POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER

　　The Computational Medicine Laboratory (CML) directed by Professor Rose Faghih at NYU Tandon School of Engineering (lab space located within the NYU Langone Medical Center’s Tech4Health Institute) is seeking to hire a highly motivated and creative Post Doctoral Researcher /Post Doctoral Associate to join exciting NIH and NSF-funded projects to conduct research on developing statistical signal processing and artificial intelligence for wearable and portable devices of the future that can act as physical or mental health trackers. The Computational Medicine Lab mainly focuses on designing optimization, estimation, signal processing, and machine learning algorithms for closed-loop biomedical and neural engineering applications. New York University (NYU) is one of the top private universities in the United States, and the Tandon School of Engineering, located in Brooklyn, has the distinct history of having been known previously as Brooklyn Poly and the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering. The Tech4Health Institute, located in Manhattan, is the NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s Institute for Health Technology and Engineering.

　　This project involves a collaboration with the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and the NYU Center for Neural Science. Candidates will be responsible for designing signal processing and/or machine learning algorithms, statistical data analysis, validation in real-time experiments with human recordings, developing IRB protocols and performing human subject research, writing scientific papers, grant writing, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students and course projects, taking part in outreach activities, and performing work in the Computational Medicine Lab, a multidisciplinary environment, under the supervision of Professor Faghih.

　　The successful candidate will be driven, creative and team-oriented with excellent writing and programming skills in MATLAB, Python, or R and a passion for developing statistical signal processing, machine learning, and various mathematical algorithms for biomedical engineering applications. We are seeking individuals with a strong background in electrical, biomedical, mechanical, computer, or aerospace engineering, and/or computer science/statistics/statistical physics/biophysics/computational neuroscience/data science/machine learning, and/or applied mathematics/control theory/signal processing/operations research, or related fields to develop mathematical algorithms for biomedical engineering and neuroscience applications. The main application focus areas will include fatigue, inflammation, metabolism, mental health regulation and optimizing human performance. Prior experience with human subject research is recommended but not required. We welcome applicants from recent PhDs and individuals seeking additional postdoctoral training. 　　In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $62,500.
