College Financial Support (50%)
This position assists the Assistant Dean with non-grant financial support as needed. Sample duties include:
Processing purchase and procurement items for the Dean's Office (purchase orders, invoice payments, etc.),
Prepare journal entries,
Clearing payroll expense matters,
Assisting with month-end and year-end reporting and processes,
Assisting in data pulls for surveys and other ad hoc financial projects.
Post Award Responsibilities (50%)
This Research Services Professional will manage $6 million annually in research expenditures among 60 PIs and 100 active grants. Primary duties include:
Provide technical and financial expertise to the Principal Investigators (PI) and their designees; providing financial reports and status updates;
Monitor sponsored projects, including sub-recipients to ensure financial compliance with various agencies;
Perform financial and administrative transactions;
Work with the Office of Grants and Contracts on billing, close-outs, and other items as necessary and as requested.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications :
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Bachelor's Degree (a substitution of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis)
Minimum 1 year of general accounting and finance experience (e.g. bookkeeping, accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, financial analysis, reporting, cashiering, processing financial transactions, etc.)
Experience in MS Office products
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's or master's degree in a business-related field
Direct experience in post award research administration
Direct experience with various federal funding agencies (NSF, DOD, etc.)
Experience in research administration systems and software (InfoEd, effort certification, etc.)
Experience in higher education financial systems (SAP, Banner, PeopleSoft, Oracle, Concur, etc.)
Specific experience in University of Colorado central systems
Research administration certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent written and verbal presentation and communication skills with ability to present complex financial concepts to both financial and non-financial professionals
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to identify, investigate, and resolve issues
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with ability to represent the college in a professional manner with tact and diplomacy
Ability to plan and prioritize tasks; work under pressure; and manage multiple, complex assignments with competing deadlines.
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
Ability to work with a diverse population with competing interests and priorities
Excellent attention to detail with exceptional time management and organizational skills.
Comprehensive personal computing skills
Knowledge of standard accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
Familiarity with PeopleSoft, Concur, Marketplace, Cognos, or similar financial, procurement, and reporting systems and software

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $59,232-$65,467.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Post Award Grants and Finance Specialist - 32378 University Staff
The College of Engineering, Design and Computing seeks a full-time Finance Specialist to provide general financial support and post-award research administration to the College. This position works in close coordination with the College's Assistant Dean of Finance & Administration, Assistant Director of Research Development and the Pre-Award Grant Specialist and serves as a resource in assisting our academic departments with inquiries about financial policy, procedures, and best practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of customer service, positive energy and self-motivation, attention to detail, a desire for continuous self-improvement through learning, a strategic mindset, and a belief that strong relationships are key to success. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule of 3 days in office and 2 days remote.
