　　POSITION SUMMARY:

　　The employee in this position must accept the responsibility to supportand promote this

　　organization\'s mission and comply with its directives. The Lieutenantis responsible for

　　supervisory and some administrative work in assigning and supervising aDepartment

　　Team or Section, including the activities of a sergeant, detectiveand/or police officer. Work

　　includes the exercise of independent judgment in the interpretation ofrules, regulations,

　　general orders and in the application of law and ordinances. Work isperformed

　　independently within established laws, policies, regulations and isreviewed periodically

　　by the Chief of Police through conferences and reports. The lieutenantshall perform the

　　duties of a police officer and is responsible for scheduling thoseofficers under his/her

　　supervision. This position may require the employee to work long hoursand/or scheduled

　　days off if required as directed.

　　SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

　　Works under the general supervision of the Police Chief.

　　SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

　　Employee has supervisory and evaluation responsibilities oversubordinate personnel.
