  As a Point of Care Specialist, you will coordinate and ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies (e.g. CAP, ODH, TJC, OSHA, etc.) for the non-waived Point of Care Testing programs in assigned area on Main Campus, at the Family Health Centers and/or the community hospitals. You will also implement the standardized Point of Care program throughout the Cleveland Clinic Health System under the direction of the Point of Care Medical Director and the Point of Care Manager.

  Some of your other duties will include but are not limited to:

  Collecting and reviewing quality metrics to ensure regulatory compliance.

  Analyzing data and preparing reports.

  Reviewing and evaluating compliance gaps and implementing process improvements.

  Interacting with local Point of Care testing personnel and program point person(s).

  The Future Caregiver is someone who:

  Has non-waived Point of Care Testing experience.

  Has accreditation and compliance experience.

  Has High-level management and leadership skills.

  Can schedule and manage tasks effectively.

  Has written and verbal communication skills.

  This position will be covering a designated region in the greater Cleveland and surrounding areas and does require some travel to various Cleveland Clinic sites.The role will be 100% onsite to start, with potential to move to a hybrid work schedule.

  Responsibilities:

  Manages the Point of Care testing programs in assigned area.

  Facilitates and manages the initiation of new programs.

  Identifies existing Point of Care Testing programs system wide and implements consolidation and standardization strategy goals as directed by the Point of Care Medical Director and the Point of Care Manager.

  Collects quality metrics, reviews findings, and identifies gaps and risks.

  Implements process improvements to mitigate risk.

  Monitors quality control records and reviews for trends.

  Conducts audits and mock inspections to ensure compliance and accreditation readiness.

  Prepares for and participates in accreditation inspections/surveys. Develops action plan/response to deficiencies.

  Manages accreditation and compliance activities i.e. qualification documentation of testing personnel, training records, competency assessment, proficiency testing surveys, CAP test activity list, Lab Director sites visits, instrument verification/correlation/calibration verification, test procedure development/revision/review, etc.

  Acts as a Point of Care compliance educator and consultant to clinical operational staff.

  Other duties as assigned.

  Education:

  Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or Clinical Laboratory Science.Certifications:

  None required.Complexity of Work:

  Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

  Work Experience:

  Minimum of three years of experience as a Medical Technologist in a non-waived laboratory.

  Additional experience in quality assurance or quality auditing preferred.

  Physical Requirements:

  Typical physical demands include ability to sit, stand or walk extensively.

  May be required to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.

  May drive distances throughout central and northern Ohio.

  Light lifting may be required.

  May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, biohazards, radioactive materials, communicable diseases, body fluids, etc.
