About Plant Maintenance Tech - Plant Operations - Full -Time - Afternoons

  Basic Purpose: Performs a variety of duties necessary to maintain all Hospital systems, facilities, utilities, and equipment. Actively participates in the creation of an environment that fosters patient, family, physician, and staff satisfaction. Ensures decisions made are based on Family Centered Care philosophy.

  Primary Duties:

   1. Maintains established Department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance and safety.  2. Performs preventative and predictive maintenance tasks per program.  3. Is able to read and interpret blue prints, electrical schematics, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams and service manuals in order to effectively troubleshoot equipment.  4. Performs general repairs to equipment, buildings, and Hospital utility systems, including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry.  5. Operates and maintains HVAC and boiler systems and related equipment, And emergency electrical generating equipment and distribution systems.  6. Responsible for and safely uses all tools, equipment and supplies.  7. Follows all established safety guidelines and regulations while performing duties.  8. Maintains all department records, daily logs, and reports as required. 9. Operates and maintains all Life Safety systems and equipment to level permitted.  10. Is able to utilize test equipment as part of a troubleshooting process.  11. Participates in educational programs, attends in-services and other meetings as required.  12. Attends meetings as required.  13. Requisitions all materials needed for assignments.  14. Responds to fire alarms, emergencies, and disasters per plan.  15. Able to operate power tools. 16. Collaborates with other health care professionals in meeting departmental goals. Establishes and maintains mechanisms for communication and constructive problem solving with staff. Utilizes a team approach in decision-making and problem solving. Build trust and mutual respects. Supports and promotes decentralized model for decision-making. 17. Performs all other duties as assigned.

  Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and commercial experience preferred. Requires the ability to work independently with little supervision. Must have a valid OH driver’s license and driving record that meets policy requirements.

   Must be able to move about and between workstations.

   Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries: requires effective interpersonal skills.

   Must be able to input and retrieve information from computer.

   Must be able to lift medium materials with occasionally having to lift objects in excess of 100 lbs, Non-material handling of: continuous standing, walking, bending, stooping and reaching; frequent pushing, pulling and squatting. Occasional sitting, stairs and kneeling.

   Refrigeration certification preferred.

   Must possess a minimum of three years general maintenance experience in a commercial setting, preferably a Healthcare environment.
