  Responsibilities

  General Purpose of the job:

  Works with Journeyman and others in the installation and maintenance of plant equipment and other work as assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following Other duties may be assigned.

  1) Operates and observes the operation of conveying equipment, coal breakers, and reciprocating loaders.

  2) Assists with the loading and unloading of coal in the coal handling system.

  3) Reads a weightometer.

  4) Keeps area around conveyors clean as assigned.

  Competency: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.

  Requirements

  High school diploma or proof of equivalent GED.

  Prior experience with hand tools and small power tools.

  Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, or greater.

  Must Pass a physical exam, upon request.

  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision and Depth perception. Typically uses hand tools such as brooms, shovels, hand carts, maintenance tools, such as screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, jack hammers, etc. Operates forklifts and pickup trucks. If working outside the Plant worker may stand or walk up to 80% of the day. If assigned inside the Plant may walk 50% of day. Surfaces are variable, uneven ground, paved, grating, concrete or mud.
