Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares technical reports and makes presentations, including discussions with policy alternatives and recommended course of action, to the Architectural Review Board, Planning Commission, Board of Adjustment, and Planning and Public Works Committee

Assists in preparation for and conducting of public meetings, hearings and presentations.
Coordinates citizen, interdepartmental, interagency and intergovernmental participation in planning studies and reports.
Maintains and updates permanent department files.
Planner-in-charge in processing and review of petitions for zoning and special procedures, site plans, permits, and subdivisions of land.
Assists general public in responding to planning, zoning and subdivision related questions.
Performs research, data collection and analysis, and prepares departmental reports and studies.
Ensures compliance on all reviews with the Citys development standards, Unified Development Code and reports on adherence to the Citys Comprehensive Plan.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
[Basic knowledge of zoning and urban planning principles.
[Ability to prepare reports, maps, graphic displays and provide presentations before a variety of audiences including elected officials and the general public.
[Analytical and research skills with the ability to interpret data and provide professional recommendations.
[Exercises initiative and interest in establishing effective working relationships and providing a high level of service to the general public.
[Experience with Access databases, GIS, and other planning related tools and software.
**[Minimum Education, Certification, and Experience Requirements
[Bachelors Degree in Urban Planning or other related field and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in planning or related field.
