Piping Technician Lead
KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) group is looking for a Piping Technician Lead to support the multi-billion-dollar Plaquemines project developing a Liquid Natural Gas export facility when fully developed will have an export capacity of up to 20 million metric tons per year. The facility’s location is about 20 miles south of New Orleans. This project is expected to be a multi-phase project spanning two years.
Aligning with KBR’s commitment to sustainability, the 630-acre site located on the Mississippi River provides deep-water access without the need for dredging, allowing for an expedited environmentally friendly development process.

This position is contingent upon having a current/valid TWIC card or having the ability to renew or obtain a TWIC card. The TWIC card must be kept current and maintained through employment.
The Piping Technician Lead will supervise and coordinate the activities of a piping technician team. A Piping system refers to any network of pipes, fittings and valves intended to perform a specific job i.e., to carry or transfer fluids from one equipment such as rotating equipment, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers, piping, and storage tanks to another .
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
Responsibilities:
Plan, schedule, and assign work to Piping technicians according to project requirements and deadlines
Monitor and evaluate the performance and quality of work of piping technicians and provide feedback and guidance
Ensure that all piping system installation, maintenance, and repair activities are carried out in compliance with international design codes and standards, safety regulations, and company policies
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to piping system operation and functionality
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on piping systems as needed and document the work done, and parts used
Order and maintain adequate inventory of spare parts, tools, and materials for piping system repair and maintenance
Train and mentor new or junior piping technicians on best practices, procedures, and techniques
Communicate and coordinate with other departments, vendors, contractors, and clients to ensure smooth and efficient operation of piping systems
Provide technical support and advice to engineers, managers, and clients on piping systems, selection, testing, fabrication, installation, and commissioning
Experience & Skills:
Proficiency in piping design and diagnostic testing software
Ability to diagnose and repair operational problems on piping systems
Knowledge of international design codes and standards for piping, static equipment, and rotating equipment
Experience in equipment selection, design, testing, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of piping systems
Ability to network with industry and trade associations within the piping discipline
Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Great organizational and time management abilities
Willingness to perform mechanical maintenance and repairs outside of business hours
Additional Qualifications:
In lieu of formal education 8 + years of directly related field experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
