JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Summary: This position is responsible forpipefitter equipment, parts, interiors and exteriors of ships, andshipyard buildings at our vast, 63-acre facility. Detailed Description:Follows directions under intermittent supervision. Cut, thread, or bendpipes to specifications. Lay out full scale drawings of pipe systems,supports, or related equipment, according to blueprints. Assemble orsecure pipes, tubes, fittings, or related equipment, according tospecifications, by welding, brazing, or threading joints. Measure andmark pipes for cutting or threading. Inspect, examine, or test installedsystems or pipe lines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing,observation, or other methods. Plan pipe system layout, installation, orrepair, according to specifications. Attach pipes to walls, structures,or fixtures. Modify, clean, or maintain pipe systems, units, fittings,or related machines or equipment. Cut or bore holes in structures.Install automatic controls to regulate pipe systems. Shut off steam,water, or other gases or liquids from pipe sections, using valve keys orwrenches. Remove and replace worn components. Operate motorized pumps toremove water from flooded manholes, basements, or facility floors.Diagnose and solve problems of all kinds. Troubleshoot problems with allequipment as it arises. Proper storage of equipment. May be assignedmiscellaneous tasks outside craft as required. Attendance is anessential function of the job.
