Position Overview
A Front Row Seat to InnovationPharmacy Technicians are valued team members here at Children's HospitalColorado. Under the direction of a licensed pharmacist and followingestablished policies and procedures, Pharmacy Technicians perform a varietyof technical procedures to support hospital inpatient or outpatient pharmacyoperations.
Current Openings:Inpatient (Anschutz) - Varied shifts; days/evenings. With rotatingweekends and holidays.Float (North & South Campus) - Varied shifts; days/evenings. Withrotating weekends and holidays.North Campus - Varied shifts; days/evenings. With rotating weekends andholidays.
Hourly Wage:$20.50 to $28.47 (based on hours worked and years of experience)Eligible Incentives: Relocation assistance available for qualified externalapplicants.Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits.Shift: Days/evenings (not a set schedule) and rotating weekends andholiday commitments. Make an ImpactEducation - High School Diploma or EquivalentExperience -One (1) year of pharmacy technician experienceEquivalency - Completion of pharmacy technician program may substitute for theone (1) year of the experience requirementCertifications:State of Colorado Pharmacy Technician (PHAT) CertificationCertificate through a nationally recognized certification board or bodyapproved by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) such asthe Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National HealthcareAssociation (NHA)Job Highlights:Prepares preparing unit-dose nonhazardous and hazardous medications and drugsupplies for dispensing as directed by a licensed pharmacist.Follows security/storage requirements of all medications includingtemperature monitoring.Takes inventory and analyzes patient-care area medication supply; replacesoutdated medications; replaces depleted inventory; performs cycle count.Independently performs inspections for medication outdates.Restocks and delivers medications to patient care areas or clinics, asassigned, including automated dispensing machines; assists in resolvingdiscrepancies.Prepares non-parenteral nonhazardous and hazardous medications for dispensingincluding controlled substances; delivers medications.Prepares parenteral medications for dispensing including controlled substancesand may include any specialty area (such as chemotherapy, etc.)competency; maintains all required records for controlled substances.Independently prepares medications for dispensing through pharmacy softwarewhile verifying all lot and expiration numbers; Follows the dispenseprep/dispense check process in Epic when preparing medications.Maintains inventory and supplies in assigned pharmacy area; ensures allinventory has a validate barcode process completed per established guidelinesand procedures.Performs charging and crediting of medication returns.Reports adverse drug events and medication variances using the hospitalvariance reporting program (QSRS).
