  Schedule : Full Time

  Shift : 2:30pm – 11:00pm, working weekdays, and every other weekend.

  The community you’ll be caring for:

  •AdventHealth Winter Garden has delivered care to the West Orange County since 2015 and will be expanding to add a 3-floor, 80-bed inpatient tower opening summer 2022, becoming a full-service hospital to serve the community of Winter Garden.

  •The AdventHealth Winter Garden tower expansion will include new ancillary and clinical spaces such as an expanded Surgery department, Inpatient Rehab, Inpatient Dialysis, Laboratory, and Imaging services.

  The role you’ll contribute:

  Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Primary responsibility is the provision of medication distributive functions and pharmacy operational tasks, which includes but is not limited to assisting the pharmacist with all duties of preparing and dispensing of medications, inventory management, and regulatory compliance. Performs duties necessary for the effective daily operation of all department services and programs. Accurately responds to medication dispensing requests, prepares medications for pharmacist final review/check, delivers checked medications, and returns unused or expired medications to appropriate pharmacy areas.

  Pharmacy Operations •Actively performs all pharmacy technician functions and maintains active proficiency in standard work parameters, hospital and pharmacy specific computer systems, and operational programs •Maintains operational expertise and competency and actively provides coverage of at least two of the following: •Central/distributive pharmacy operations •Sterile compounding •Decentral/ Automated Dispensing Cabinet delivery pharmacy operations •Controlled substance Handling AND at least one of the following: •Hazardous Medication Sterile Compounding •Quality Assurance & USP required sampling •Technician Inventory Check (i.e., tech check tech where authorized) •Medication History •Supporting Clinical Services •Purchasing and Inventory Management -ORMaintains knowledge of the following: •Central/Distributive Pharmacy •IV Room/Sterile compounding •Decentral/ Automated Dispensing Cabinet delivery pharmacy operations •Controlled Substances handling AND Performs primary job function as: •Medication History technician OR Inventory specialist •Participates in appropriate utilization of medication automation, technology, and computer systems. Maintains expertise in electronic health record system and be able to accurately interpret electronic records as needed •Accurately completes medication inventories and accurately prepares and dispenses patient‐specific medication doses. Prevents improper drug, dose, dosage form selection, expiration dating, and barcode scanning issues when checking products •Performs oral and injectable compounding, if applicable •Carries out special projects or assignments as directed by supervisor or manager •Understands how to handle process and appropriately dispose of all waste materials, including all levels of hazardous waste, within the department. Knowledgeable about the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Hazardous Medication Spill Kits in the event of a hazardous medication spill. Pharmacy Practice •Facilitates medication safety practices by identifying and reporting potential medication errors such as look-alike sound-alike medications. •Prepares and delivers medication in an accurate, safe and timely manner Clinical Pharmacy Services •Supports practice in all pharmacy areas and clinical services •Collaborates with other pharmacy staff •Collaborates with care providers and Pharmacists to optimize care and improve services Teamwork and Inter-Professional Collaboration •Presents to assigned areas on time and ready to work and does not exhibit unscheduled absenteeism •Assures continuity of care between shifts, among pharmacy staff assignments, and across pharmacy practice areas •Works effectively with all members of the healthcare team to ensure the best outcome for the patient •Demonstrates sensitivity to the perspective of the patient, caregiver, or health care colleague in all communications •Actively supports teammates (pharmacists, technicians, managers) •Uses effective negotiation skills to resolve conflicts •Demonstrates through behavior AdventHealth's service standards of Own It, Make It Easy, Love Me, and Keep Me Safe. Teaching, Training, Precepting, and Mentorship •Mentors new-staff and assists with training •Precepts and mentors pharmacy student rotations and actively engages in student learning experiences, if applicable •Supports pharmacy residency experiences, if applicable •Determines and finalizes competency

  •Demonstrates desire and aptitude for instructing, modeling, and coaching others Quality Improvement, Regulatory Compliance, and Accreditation •Supports and participates in medication‐use process improvements led by colleagues and peers •Supports regulatory compliance initiatives and supports institutional accreditation processes Professional Activities and Practice Advancements •Maintains a commitment to pharmacy practice by supporting improvements in and contributions to pharmacy practice Leadership and Organizational Involvement •Participates in departmental meetings •Participates in departmental educational activities •Supports practice advancement initiatives, clinical research projects, and stewardship initiatives led by colleagues and peers, if applicable •Participates in shared governance committee(s), if applicable •Maintains professional image •Performs other duties as assigned

  Qualifications

  The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

  EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: REQUIRED : •High School degree or equivalent •One year of hospital pharmacy experience ((Retail or ambulatory experience acceptable for medication history function in lieu of hospital experience)

  LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED: • PTCB - Certified Pharmacy Technician • Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians • National Healthcareer Association • Sterile Compounding & Aseptic Technique-IV Cert Course • Registered Pharmacy Technician

  LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION: REQUIRED: •Applicable State Pharmacy Technician Registration (RPT) •Sterile Compounding Certification, if applicable per state legislation •Current certification from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ICPT), or from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
