Job Summary

　　JOB SUMMARY

　　This position is responsible for assembling and disassembling and operating heart/lung machines and providing total patient support during cardiopulmonary bypass.

　　JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES CLINICAL

　　Assembles and operates the heart/lung machine within the safe scope of

　　established clinical practice.

　　Manages patient parameters within the accepted safe ranges of established clinical practice.

　　Sets-up and operates all available perfusion devices.

　　Supports organ transplant procedures and new surgical procedures.

　　Assists in research, animal testing and product evaluation.

　　Maintains on-call responsibilities and operating room coverage.

　　Performs department functions such as laboratory coverage, stock of supplies.

　　Provides total patient support during cardiopulmonary bypass.

　　Performs patient charting.

　　PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

　　Typical physical demands include: a high degree of manual dexterity to sufficiently perform computer functions on a keyboard, produce materials on a PC and operate basic office equipment, normal or corrected vision and hearing, ability to lift and/or bear the weight of 100 pounds or more while pulling, lifting, pushing and transferring patients, work under stressful conditions and some irregular hours, travel in an ambulance, small airplane or helicopter for organ procurement, work with protective gear, mobility sufficient to visit with departments or employees throughout CCAD and lift up to 50 lbs

　　Education

　　Bachelor's degree in a science subject plus a post graduate diploma/certificate in Perfusion is required.

　　Experience

　　Minimum of two (2) years experience as perfusionist is required.

　　Certification and Licensure

　　Current national license is required.

　　Registration with the society of Perfusionist of Great Britain and Ireland or the European Board of Cardiovascular Perfusionion is required

　　Job Specific Skills and Abilities

　　Strong organizational skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to speak and write in English is required Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

　　Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred

　　This strategically located multi-specialty tertiary care facility with adjacent clinic houses five clinic floors, three diagnostic and treatment levels, and thirteen floors of critical and acute inpatient units totaling 364 beds (expandable to 490). Additional space has been incorporated for operational and support departments, retailers, a conference center, and a high-fidelity clinical simulation center.
