A Brief Overview
The Payroll Associate Manager will work with an Officer to gain skills and expertise required to oversee the company's payroll function, including all aspects of multi-state payroll processing for 3,000+ exempt and non-exempt employees, and Board of Directors. In addition, the Payroll Associate Manager is responsible to assist with managing the company's leave function, which includes FMLA; ADA; Workers' Compensation; short-term and long-term disability; and state and local leave laws. The Payroll Associate Manager oversees the quality control and risk management for payroll and leave, and anticipates patterns/links in order to think and act more strategically. The Payroll Associate Manager will also have a strong focus on improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the payroll and leave function by coordinating and partnering with other teams, such as, Accounting, Centralized Recons, Compensation, Benefits, HRIS, and the Project Management Office (PMO).
What you will do
Oversee and assist with completing payroll process, tax reporting, and tax preparation and submission inclusive of appropriate tax forms for State and Federal entities.
Assist with identifying and implementing payroll process improvements to improve accuracy and increase operational efficiency.
Assist with strategy development for Payroll and Leave programs.
Maintain relationships with Payroll and Leave vendors, and ensures service level requirements are met.
Identify industry trends or changes and analyzes the effect on FirstBank’s Payroll and Leave programs and policies.
Implement procedures and practices to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
Prepare payroll and leave related presentations, including analysis of data.
Conduct audits and research projects for recommendation to Operations Officer.
Collaborate with other HR teams, Accounting, functional and technical staff, both internal and external, to achieve required payroll results.
Analyze and respond to complex matters requiring comprehensive knowledge of payroll and leave policies and procedures.
Authorize, review and/or enter payroll transactions and related data.
Research and interpret a variety of technical transactions in response to inquiries.
Oversee the proper reporting of Federal, State, and local tax documents.
Maintain up to date knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulations related to payroll and leave, and make recommendations for changes when needed.
Analyze and resolve issues by providing root cause analysis and corrective action for all complex or non-routine situations for all levels of employees and management.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Supervises the work of a group of direct reports. Responsible for performance management and evaluations; hiring and staffing, scheduling. Enforces policies and procedures. Directs day-to-day work of employees, through supervision of lead staff or directly. Supervisory responsibilities may be limited to a specific shift or a portion of a function, facility or location. May assist with training and payroll. Coaches and develops staff.
Minimum Requirements
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum of 2-3 years of related experience and prior supervisory experience.
A combination of post-high school education, job related certification and related experience equivalent to 4-5 years may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements

Prior project management experience
Payroll related certification or in progress

Salary Range
$74,880.00 To $110,000.00
