Ford and SK On are investing billions in Kentucky and Tennessee including building three state-of-the art battery manufacturing facilities between the two campuses at BlueOval City in Tennessee and BlueOval SK Battery Park in Kentucky. These brand-new advanced manufacturing facilities will use Ford’s 100-years of automobile manufacturing expertise and SK On’s 30+ years of electric vehicle battery expertise to become the world’s best battery manufacturer.
The Payroll Accountant at BlueOval SK will have a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a key member of the start-up team, launching the facility from the ground up.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for the administration of the payroll, tax, and general ledger accounting functions at BOSK, the Payroll Accountant will report to the Payroll Manager and work closely with the Payroll Specialist, PR/HR Admin, Accounting, Finance, and Treasury teams as needed.
This position will also be responsible for administering BOSK’s payroll accounting function in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, KSOX, and SOX compliance.
Payroll:
• Perform all activities necessary to reconcile weekly and semi-monthly payroll including maintaining related records and needed documentation.
• File payroll tax reports and voluntary and involuntary deduction reports with appropriate agencies.
• Prepare relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports as necessary.
• Prepare and review payroll account reconciliations in timely manner.
• Reconcile accurate leave accruals by working with the Payroll and Compensation teams.
• Assist with 401(k) audits and ensuring employee contributions and employer match are accurate.
• Reconcile 941, 940, W2, State, and local tax forms monthly, quarterly, and yearly.
• Produce ad hoc reports as needed.
• Ensure the annual processing of W-2 statements,1094/1095 ACA filings is handled by 3rd party provider and reconciled with Workday Payroll/HCM.
• Help train staff on ADP Compliance, Workday, and SAP payroll and accounting modules.
General Ledger:
• Maintain the General Ledger payroll journal, ensuring accuracy and keeping Payroll Manager apprised of any problems.
• Prepare monthly payroll closings, including all bank reconciliations and check for accuracy.
• Perform monthly payroll balance sheet account reconciliations and check for accuracy.
• Prepare all schedules and documentation for annual audit and tax filings as they relate to payroll and benefit deductions ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Ensure that returned ACH payments are properly recorded in SAP.
Other:
• Process benefit and 3rd party vendor invoices ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Serve as back up to Payroll Specialist and PR/HR Admin.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and FASB regulations.
• Experience with joint venture and start-ups is a plus.
• Must be a self-starter, willing to hit the ground running and willing to collaborate across multiple key stakeholder areas within the rapidly growing business.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working with accounting software. Experience with pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and ensuring data is clean for audit and reconciliation purposes.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment and be willing to adapt to change as needed day-to-day.
Preferred Requirements:
• Three (3) years of accounting experience; experience working in a manufacturing organization preferred.
