Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, Colorado's largest and most comprehensiveprovider of cancer care has an exciting opportunity for an experienced PatientFinancial Counselor/Front Office Float to support our radiation oncologydepartment in Aurora.We realize that it sounds cliche but it is true - taking care of cancerpatients is a calling. Responsibilities
-Ensure all insurance, demographic, and eligibility information isobtained and entered into the system in an accurate manner.-Perform insurance verification process on all third party payers.- Obtain initial and subsequent pre-authorization for services and surgeries.-Re-verify benefits and obtains authorization and/or referral aftertreatment plan has been discussed, prior to initiation of treatment. Ensureappropriate signatures are obtained on all necessary forms.-Utilize the Summary of Patient Reimbursement and Liability form and obtainsappropriate approvals as required.-Perform financial counseling process on all patients prior to treatment,which includes patient financial obligations, billing practices andestablishing payment arrangements.-Document financial counseling process and forward to Billing Office.
-Schedules new patients and return appointments in computer system inaccordance with physician and/or office guidelines. Cancels/reschedulesappointments per physician schedule changes; notifies appropriate clinicpersonnel. -Obtains and enters all authorization and correspondence relatingto referrals in patients charts and computer.- Schedules appointments/testing upon request. Obtains necessarypre-certification as required.-Handles new patient referrals, gathers necessary information, assigns thepatient account number and schedules appointment.-Collects co-pays, deductible and other out of pocket amounts at time ofvisit.-Handles incoming phone calls from patients needing to schedule or rescheduleappointments. Arranges for patients to have financial counseling as needed.-Cover all front office duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required. Position requires at least 3years' medical office work experience with insurance procedures. Must haveexcellent communication skills, written and verbal. Proficiency withcomputer systems a requirement. Microsoft (Outlook, Word, and Excel) a plus.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative ofthose that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essentialfunctions of this job.
