Job Overview
This position produces estimates of cost of care for families and makesarrangements for payment of patient portion. The individual must have goodinvestigatory skills, be detail-oriented, exhibit good listening skillsand problem-solving skills, and be able to speak with patients/familieswho may be under stress due to potential financial liability and anticipatedmedical services.

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARENo direct patient care.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAn employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of thefollowing essential functions. Estimates Trending and Reporting: 1) Updates and maintains estimatetrending reports. 2) Conducts analysis and develops reports of estimatepatterns by payors and clinical departments. 3) Assists in communicatingresults of reports to various component with Revenue Integrity and otherdepart2. Maintains knowledge of requirements and guidelines for hospital-sponsoredcharity care, as well as the availability of financial assistance fromexternal sources.3. Performs billing and follow-up functions on assigned accounts to resolvebilling, payment, and contractual issues in a manner that conforms to allfederal, state, and payer regulations and that elicits accurate and timelyreimbursement from payers and families.4. Provides excellent customer service to all stakeholders, internal andexternal. Responds to all phone calls in an efficient and courteous manner.Listens and responds to customer service needs with the appropriate level ofurgency.5. Replies to inquiries from patients/families anticipating services toprepare estimates of amounts due based on anticipated services and patientcoverage. Calculates balances based on plan and benefits, and then discussesand finalizes the method of resolving balances.
