Description We are in search of a Patient Care Coordinator to join our healthcare team in Bakersfield, California. This role offers a long term contract employment opportunity in the healthcare industry. As a Patient Care Coordinator, you would be responsible for a variety of secretarial support duties that ensure the proper functioning of our business unit and contribute to the productivity and effectiveness of the department.

Responsibilities:

• Registering and pre-registering patients, ensuring all patient demographics are verified and up-to-date

• Checking insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorizations, and maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of all payers including HMO, Commercial, Medi-care, and Medi-cal

• Collecting co-payments, co-insurances, and deductibles from patients

• Providing exceptional customer service by resolving patient inquiries and maintaining clear and open communication

• Ensuring hospital policies are explained and patient financial responsibilities and rights are clearly communicated

• Processing customer credit applications accurately and efficiently

• Supervising workstation support and ensuring the smooth operation of office functions

• Scheduling appointments, maintaining files, and producing correspondence and spreadsheets

• Answering inbound calls and providing support as needed

• Working with Microsoft Excel and other software to manage patient records and billing functions. Requirements • Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for data entry and analysis

• Strong customer service skills, with the ability to handle patient inquiries and complaints

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with patients, their families, and medical staff

• Experience in office functions, including filing, scheduling appointments, and answering inbound calls

• Knowledge of healthcare policies and procedures

• Familiarity with insurance and benefits functions, including billing and check processing

• Ability to provide administrative assistance in a healthcare setting

• Experience in supervising a team and providing training when necessary

• Proficiency in using HealthCare.gov for patient registration and inquiries

• Aptitude for creating and delivering presentations to patients, staff, or third parties

• Ability to provide workstation support to ensure seamless operations

• Experience in handling authorizations and understanding business units in a healthcare setting

• Familiarity with deductible calculations and collection processes

• Knowledge of using spreadsheets for data organization and analysis

• Proven track record of improving productivity in a healthcare setting

• Must have 10 key skills for efficient data entry

• Ability to handle correspondence with patients, insurance companies, and other stakeholders in a professional manner.
