The Patient Account Representative possesses knowledge of coordination of benefits, subrogation, and government regulations regarding third party recoupment and other matters. Accounting and business office skills are needed, in addition to thorough knowledge and understanding patient account files. Also requires excellent public relations skills for addressing and resolving patients' questions or complaints regarding hospital patient charges. The patient account representative is expected to function within the scope of approved policies and procedures, and regulations for the department and organization. Will be responsible for assisting with orientation, preceptorship and management of personnel assigned to unit. Must be able to work and relate in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients and visitors. Must be willing to work and complete any duties assigned by the Director without complaint. Attendance to yearly mandatory education requirements is non-negotiable and will be the responsibility of the employee to arrange and attend sessions.
