JOB REQUIREMENTS: GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible formanaging the instruction process, associated curriculum review anddevelopment, and student advising within the area of instruction.Responsible for instructing artisan classes aimed at both teachingindividuals to learn a new artisan skill or supplement their income.Areas of instruction to be covered could include (but not limited to):Fused Glass Fundamentals: studio safety, scoring and breaking glass,assembly, kiln firing, and finishing techniques, understanding of C.O.Eof glass, properties of hot glass, ability to operate a glass grinder,acetylene/air torch, and lap grinder, understanding of key firingtemperatures, understanding of Kiln Carving (Fiber Paper), understandingof slumps and drapes, ability to operate fused glass kiln Fused GlassIntermediate: operation of tile saw and understanding of raw materialdevelopment, understanding of edging options with lap grinder,understanding of bubble control and frit lacing Fused Glass IndependentProjects: overseeing, assisting, answering questions, problem solving,and offering advice on personal projects using a range of techniques andskills. Must be comfortable challenging students to try new things andproviding feedback to students in the form of critique Workshops: Avariety of specialized projects such as pocket vases, Christmasornaments, and wind chimes with the ability to successfully instruct andguide those with no prior experience to achieve a desired result. Mustbe willing to commit to all required course contact hours, for eachclass assignment as scheduled. Responsible for maintaining curriculumrigor in alignment with state requirements.
