  JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  The Food Animal Microbiomes Laboratory (Ganda Lab at Penn State https://sites.psu.edu/gandalab/ ) of Dr. Erika Ganda in the Department of Animal Science is seeking to hire up to five Part-Time Research Assistants to work on ongoing projects. This is a part-time position funded for the spring 2024 with a good possibility of re-funding. This position will be located at Penn State in University Park, Pennsylvania.

  Job Duties:

  Assist in experiments investigating various aspects of the microbiome in production animals, including but not limited to cattle and poultry.

  Projects may span from field experiments to bacterial isolation and characterization, molecular testing, and computational approaches, depending on the candidate’s background and interests.

  Requirements and Qualifications:

  Experience in molecular techniques, microbiome research and data analysis are preferred.

  Experience in food animal microbiomes research is preferred, but not required.

  Must be able to work independently and as a team

  Strong written communication skills

  Must be able to effectively write project reports
