Posting Summary	Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Principal Lab Technician within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Under the direction of the Research Study Manager, the Principal Laboratory Technician assists in the acquisition, cryopreservation, processing cataloging and shipping of tissues/body fluid and other biological specimens from area hospital operating rooms, patient sites, pathology laboratories and various patient encounter areas for the Cancer Center Tissue Analytic Services/Bio-specimen Repository and related laboratories. Must be able to work PM hours on a regular/permanent basis. Among the key duties for this position are the following: Trains incoming technicians in research procedures, laboratory safety, and the use of equipment or instrumentation. Maintains current knowledge of all relevant Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and National Institutes of Health (NIH), International Air Transport Association (IATA) requirements and guidelines for bio-specimen handling and storage. Responsible for training new personnel and retraining those who need correction. Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgersregulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified. Understands and adheres to Rutgers compliance standards as they appear in RBHS' Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Understands, demonstrates and models the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey core values. Acts as a role model for corporate integrity, customer service and improved quality.

Minimum Education and Experience	Associates degree plus 2 years of experience in a laboratory environment or related equivalent coursework.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities	Ability to read, write, speak and understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform job duties. An understanding of the importance of the regulatory process in relation to specimens collected for specific clinical trials. Must be able to perform occasional overtime as needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment	PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25 lbs.WORKENVIRONMENT: Lab environment with moderate noise. Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases. Universal precautions are mandatory. Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
