St. Mary's Thrift Store is hiring a full-time Thrift Store Associate to add to our fantastic team of hard-working, selfless volunteers and employees.St Mary's Thrift Store is a Catholic faith-based organization established over 50 years ago in Kodiak, Alaska. Over a half-century, the store has provided a source of low-cost essentials for the local community while partnering with local non-profits to assist whenever a need arises and support the parish.OVERVIEW OF POSITION:The Thrift Store Associate is responsible for all areas of the Thrift Store, which includes but is not limited to cashier, money handling, donation/sorting, pricing/stocking/displaying, opening/closing, and seasonal inventory management. Additionally, the Associate will assist in facilitating a safe and pleasant working/shopping environment while providing good customer service. Willing to train the right person.EDUCATION:
High School/GEDQUALIFICATIONS:
Carry out oral and written instructions with a minimum of supervision.Operate a cash register, credit card machines and handle monetary transactions.Provide good customer service by giving prompt and courteous assistance.Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.Perform basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills.Work/interact effectively with the public, co-workers, and volunteers of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.Work independently and in a detailed, professional, and courteous manner.Willingness to learn new skills and procedures.Visually creative with good organizing skills.ATTENDANCE:This is a full-time position. Must be punctual and timely in meeting all attendance requirements for scheduled work hours and work deadlines; beginning and ending work assignments; attend required meetings and training and scheduled work breaks, where applicable. The Schedule is flexible to accommodate working Parents with school-age dependents. Every other Saturday is required.
