JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:The Bellisario College of Communications is seeking to fillwage payroll positions Research Assistants and journalists needed for Spring/Summer 2023.

Research will include:Reading court rulingsResearch on the Nexis-Uni database (for which training is available)Internet researchReading and summarizing scholarly articles in social science fieldsOutreach to community groupsWatching jury selectionAnalyzing government data

Journalism will include interviewing, writing and producing audio stories for public radio and a podcast.

Experience with or training in journalism, audio production, legal research and community organizing helpful. Preference given to those who have been involved with the study of the jury's role in mass incarceration. Must be reliable and able to work with minimal supervision.

Up to 20 hours per week, $12 per hour. Possibility of one position continuing into Fall 2023.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters. The ASR is available for review here.
