PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Manage the physical circulation of all materials within the library. Facilitate inter-library loan borrowing among district campuses. Assist with library management under direction and supervision of the campus certified librarian.

Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GEDSome college courses preferredSpecial Knowledge/Skills:
Basic working knowledge of library scienceAbility to implement planned program strategiesKnowledge and/or strong interest in literature appreciationStrong public relations and interpersonal skillsCompetency in computer usage and technologyExperience:
Experience in a public school environment, preferably a library or classroomMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Circulation
Staff the circulation desk (or supervise student or volunteer staffers).Handle all routine check-in/check-out transactions (or supervise such).Receive and record monies for fines and lost/damaged books.Maintain sign-in sheets for unscheduled users.Maintain schedule for class sign-up by faculty and staff.Shelve returned materials (or supervise such).Prepare and distribute reports relating to overdue materials and other circulation issues.Oversee the circulation of classroom sets, calculators, etc.Materials Processing
Check received items against invoices or packing slips.Prepare received items for cataloging by the librarian (apply automation materials as well as property stamps and other identifying markers).Maintain record of magazines received.Prepare magazines and other materials for bindery.Shelve newly arrived materials in appropriate display areas.Maintain inventory record of daily/weekly newspapers received.Assist in collection development under direction of librarian, including weeding out obsolete items.Student Services
Help create and maintain an environment conducive to learning.Provide instruction in using library resources when called upon to do so.Facilitate use of equipment by keeping printers and copiers in good working condition.Help students orient themselves correctly in the library to locate needed resources.Miscellaneous Assignments
Enter AS400 requisitions as directed by the librarian.Maintain and circulate audiovisual equipment, sending items needing repair to the appropriate district personnel.Maintain current patron records database.Other
