Cuyuna Regional Medical Center * Professional Clinic Svc Crosby, MN Professional Patient Care Full Time, Professional FTE: 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period) Weekend Requirements: No weekends Posted 08/30/2023 Req # 12561 POSITION SUMMARY We are looking to hire a driven and team-oriented Physician Assistant to work collaboratively with the Orthopedic Spine Surgeon and team in both a clinical and surgical setting. You will have the opportunity to diagnose and treat a variety of orthopedic conditions with an emphasis on comprehensive spine care, in the clinical setting. In the operating room, the PA will work alongside the surgeon and surgical staff performing a range of surgeries focused on orthopedic spine care and including routine orthopedic trauma cases. Essential Responsibilities: Provide appropriate assessment of patient's health, ranging from focused to comprehensive. Obtain patient health history from patient or guardian and review pertinent health records. Perform patient examination. Consults with supervising physician as appropriate with patient history. Order pertinent diagnostic tests and procedures. Interprets health information and establishes diagnoses consistent with the accumulated data. Formulates treatment plan. Orders necessary medications and conservative therapies. Provide education and support to operative and non-operative patients. Makes health record entries into electronic medical record and dictates according to standards. Provide for continuity of care during hospitalization including hospital rounds. Work closely with physician, PA, nurses and secretary to provide comprehensive care. Assist the physician as needed during clinic and provide appropriate care to patients. Completes as necessary with related office work: Coding Patient form completion Correspondence Maintains current knowledge in the field of practice. Acts as a resource for nurse clinicians. Assists surgeon in the operating room during spine surgeries. Performs related work as assigned. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistant in the state of Minnesota. Special Skills and Aptitudes: Possess a comprehensive knowledge of general applied theory and practice as well as knowledge of orthopedic spine related medical theory. Specific knowledge of imaging studies such as MRI, CT, Myleograms, X-rays, clinical interpretation and indications. Surgical Skills: patient positioning, sterile technique, wound checks and closures, suture techniques, knowledge of surgical instruments, casting and splinting. Demonstrates knowledge of and can apply the principles of administration in the changing health care environment. Effective interpersonal relationship skills including good listening and communication skills. Able to build and maintain excellent working relationships with physicians and staff. Ability to adapt resources to meet the needs of the situation. Exercises good judgment; maintains flexibility, creativity and insight in problem solving. Demonstrates leadership qualities and executive and organizational abilities. Maintains good physical and mental health. Adjusts to stressful situations with confidence and good judgment. Professional experience with exposure to clinic and surgery services. Well-developed assessment, interviewing and counseling skills. Knowledge of patient history and physical examination methods, health sciences (anatomy with a focus on spine, physiology, biochemistry, pathophysiology, pharmacology and microbiology), HIPAA compliant. Ability to develop therapeutic relationship with patients, interpret medical data, identify normal and abnormal physical and radiology findings. Detail oriented, ability to multitask. Excellent communicator, positive attitude, hard working, confident in skills. License/Certifications: Graduate of Physician Assistant Program accredited by the Accreditation Review commission on E ucation for the Physician Assistant, Inc. American Heart Association CPR.
