  Job Posting Summary

  PACT Mentor assists in the retention of graduate students from enrollment to graduation/alumni activities. The position offers a particular emphasis on academic planning based on The knowledge of the University’s academic programs, requirements, and support services. This position provides graduate students with excellent student service with an overall interest toward the promotion of student success and retention.

  The Mentor will provide a variety of highly integrated services and programs to support academic success, career development and personal growth resulting in a positive college experience. The Mentor serves as the student’s partner in a success driven, educational journey from admissions to graduation, and beyond. The Mentor will also work collaboratively with University faculty, staff and appropriate external organizations that directly enhance the student’s experience

  Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  Serve as primary advisor and mentor for working caseload of graduate students meeting with each student one-on-one on a regular basis throughout each term of study.

  Ensures continuing and re-entry students are advised and registered according to program requirements.

  Monitors and updates student enr ollment status.

  Ensures the SAP process is completed each quarter/semester and provides guidance to at-risk students to ensure success.

  Understands Unversity processes and policies to support student success.

  Contacts students and ensures course registrations are appropriate to ensure proper transfer credits.

  Ensures quarterly/semester processes are conducted such as review of pre-requisite report

  Monitors student progress reports and provides support and interventions as needed.

  Assists with new student orientation.

  Assists with graduation ceremonies.

  Monitors transcript evaluation requests to ensure that official transcript evaluations are received and reviewed with students in a timely manner.

  Participates in outreach initiatives involving and retaining graduate students.

  Performs other duties as assigned.

  Qualifications

  Required Skills & Experience:

  One year of experience within a higher education setting coordinating retention efforts with a focus on student success preferred.

  Experience advising/mentoring within a higher education setting preferred

  Education Requirements:

  Bachelor's degree required, Master’s degree preferred.

  Physical/Other Requirements:

  Must be able to push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.

  Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per university policies,

  Compensation offered will be commensurate with the educational background and work experience of the individual.

  Mercy University promotes a community campus environment. As a result, employment is limited to the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. Applicants outside of those states or the USA will be required to relocate. Relocation assistance may be provided for eligible moves.

  The Mercy University Retirement Plan is comprised of two components:

  Deferred Compensation Plan

  All eligible employees may contribute to the Deferred Compensation Plan on a pre-tax basis upon joining the University.

  Defined Contribution Plan

  Eligible employees are enrolled in the Defined Contribution Plan after two (2) years of full-time employment at Mercy University and receive a semi-monthly contribution from the College, based on age and salary. If an employee is under age 36, they will receive a contribution of 3.3% of their annual salary each pay period. If an employee is age 36 or older, they will receive a contribution of 9% of their annual salary each pay period.

  If employed full-time for two (2) or more consecutive years by another institution(s) of higher education (college or university), without an intervening break in service within the last twelve (12) months prior to employment before joining Mercy, please submit a waiting period waiver form to Office of Human Resources. The Defined Contribution will begin as of the first day of the month following receipt of the completed waiver form.
