DescriptionEssential FunctionsDisplays commitment to UH Essential Behaviors, the UH mission, employee engagement and other system-wide service excellence initiativesAssist Orthopaedic Surgeons in setting specialized traction apparatuses and applying/removal of patient casts and splintsResponsible for performing duties as first assistant to the orthopedic surgeons in the operating roomAssists surgeons when necessary in surgery, Emergency Department, Patient care floors, and on-call on weekendsProvides clinical support to physicians in outpatient clinicsEducates patients and families on usage, precautions, and donning and doffing of orthopedic devices, casting, tractionProvides age specific care to patients from neonates through elderlyPerforms non-patient care duties and cross coverage of other positions within the practice as assignedTakes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environmentRequired For All JobsPerforms other duties as assigned.Complies with all policies and standards.For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
