The Associate Director of Postdoctoral Affairs provides leadership for the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs. The University has about 80 postdoctoral scholars across thirteen schools and colleges and plans to grow this number significantly. Syracuse University’s Office of Postdoctoral Affairs provides support to postdoctoral scholars and to faculty and administrative staff seeking to hire, recruit, and train postdocs. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance and Research Initiatives, the Associate Director of Postdoctoral Affairs will manage the lifecycle of postdoctoral appointments, engaging and collaborating with faculty, department administrators, budget staff, human resources, and the postdocs themselves. They will create, deploy, and oversee training for faculty and staff responsible for postdoctoral scholars. They will collaborate with Human Resources, the Office of University Counsel, the Center for International Services, and other campus partners to ensure that the University remains compliant with all Federal and State policies regarding postdoctoral scholars. The Associate Director will provide management for the University’s postdoctoral scholar initiatives in collaboration with the Professional Development Postdoctoral Fellow, the Professional and Career Development Office in the Graduate School, and other campus partners.
