Summary:

　　Viewing Optics Engineering is looking for a creative Materials and Process Engineer to help develop optical films solutions for next generation Virtual Reality (VR) products. You will use Polymer film knowledge base, their mechanical and optical properties along with change in performance with high deformation. You can handle a high degree of ambiguity in product definition, play a critical role in the product engineering process, including product definition, scoping, task management & prioritization, rollout and launch. You are good at making the right engineering tradeoffs in the context of a wider product or project goal. You are sought as a technical mentor, who makes the team more effective by bringing in best practices, identifying & removing bottlenecks, mentoring team members, as well as avoiding common pitfalls. Other engineers and managers look to you for your experience and expertise in the product development process.

　　Optical Materials and Process Engineer Responsibilities:

　　Design and develop optical film and process to enable innovative optical system design by working with internal teams and external vendors

　　Conduct in-depth investigations on optical, mechanical, photoelastic and thermal properties of optical films including polarizer, retarder, anti-reflection coating and diffractive optics

　　Lead the process improvement of optical film for performance and quality. Prototype and validate novel optical film designs, and identify potential issues for mass productions

　　Collaborate with cross functional team to conduct thorough evaluations on trade off of different optical film designs and process to find best-in-class optical film solutions for Meta’s VR products

　　Minimum Qualifications:

　　Bachelor degree in materials science & engineering, polymer science & engineering, chemical engineering, optical engineering or related fields

　　2+ years of experience with optical film prototyping and development

　　2+ years in hands-on optical film characterizations and testing

　　Working knowledge of polarization design and polarization optical components

　　Solid understanding of optical and mechanical properties of polymer and liquid crystals, and their dependencies on structure and processing

　　Expert in design of film extrusion and stretching process
