POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for planning and managing contract manufacturing operations to ensure products are delivered to budget, on-time and in accordance with customer specifications. Responsible for driving a continual improvement mindset and for implementing methods to streamline processes, to increase efficiency and to ensure existing and new products are produced in a profitable manner. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to: General Manager Direct Reports: Production Shift Supervisors, Tool Room Supervisor, Secondary Operations Manager, Master Scheduler, Manufacturing Engineering Manager REQUIREMENTS: Education: Preferred Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in a contract manufacturing environment, preferably in regulated industries. Licensing/Registration/Certification: Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States. Experience: Preferred 10 years of experience in managing operations and technical personnel in a contract manufacturing environment, preferably in regulated industries. Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including presentation skills); effective business correspondence and reporting; working knowledge of Microsoft Office, CAD and business operating systems such as IQMS; ability to lead, motivate, manage and develop people. Knowledge: Knowledge of engineering, quality and contract manufacturing processes including experience in new product development and the application of lean tools; ability to apply effective problem solving techniques; knowledge of print reading; understanding of validations and inspection methods; experience in implementing effective change. Abilities: To be able to perform daily tasks safely and effectively; to work independently with limited supervision; to solve practical problems; to work effectively with customers, suppliers and with other departments; to manage multiple priorities; to lead, manage and develop people. Physical: Walking and stair climbing is required within the facility. Sitting, standing, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, and fingers are physical requirements. Must have correctable eyesight and good depth perception. Must be able to walk, sit and occasionally climb and balance. Mental: Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them in a timely manner; ability to make decisions with limited information; ability to lead, implement and sustain change. WORKING CONDITIONS: Teamvantage is a non-smoking, climate controlled, professional injection molding facility. The manufacturing environment may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors as would be customary in an injection molding facility. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Work cooperatively with all employees. Ensure production orders are delivered on-time and meet customer specifications. Cultivate a first time right mindset to reduce rework and scrap, to streamline processes and to ensure efficient workflow and throughput. Apply lean tools and utilize systematic root cause analysis techniques as appropriate to drive continual improvement. Evaluate and implement processes and automation to increase throughput and extend our technology portfolio. Determine labor, equipment and facility space utilization requirements to address existing and future business needs. Ensure direct reports and their teams obtain relevant training and experience to develop both personally and professionally. Ensure a consistent shift-to-shift communication process to better clarify production supervisor and manager expectations and to drive accountability. Ensure key messages are consistently and effectively communicated to the operations team, and cascaded within the team, as appropriate. Monitor product performance to standard cost and embrace opportunities to drive operational improvements to ensure profitable business. Ensure the operations team is engaged in new p oduct development and supports the successful transfer of new business as it transitions from development to production. Maintain organization when working in a fast-pace, evolving business with multiple internal and external customers that have conflicting priorities, requirements and expectations. Complete performance appraisals and succession plans; provide timely and relevant feedback to direct reports; celebrate accomplishments. Lead special projects and initiatives as required. Ensure the operations team works in a safe manner and maintains compliance with OSHA regulations. Display positive leadership attributes. Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
