Research Analyst Senior
Operational Researcher Level 4 – GDIT is seeking an operational researcher / data analysist to support ATR’s R&D of UAS when applied to improve the safety and efficiency of airport operations.
Years of applicable experience: 6-10
Duties: Plan and lead R&D tasks to evaluate if and how the use of UAS Platforms could be used to improve the safety and efficacy of airport Operations. This could include
Generating theories of how UAS can improve airport operations and then developing and implementing R&D plans and procedures to prove or disprove them,
Literature searches to identify relevant published research,
Outreach to airports and stakeholders who have started using UAS in their operations,
Developing and executing technology assessment plans and procedures,
Analysis of collected data to identify trends, conclusions, and findings
Able generate / brief R&D results for technical and nontechnical audiences.
Degree Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in operations research, computer science, engineering, business, mathematics, information systems, management science, aviation, aeronautical, or air traffic management/science. Master's Degree, MBA, or PhD in related field may be substituted for bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience.
Relevant Experience Requirements and Other Info: Skill requirements include project management/organization, research techniques, creating plans, cost estimation, risk management, logistics, data collection, analysis, technical writing, and presenting formal/technical information. Capable of fully executing related research and development projects. Accomplish complete and timely deliverables without daily supervision.
Required Skills: Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) Plan development and implementation, Data analysis using large Excel data sheets, Proven ability to author technical and engineer reports
Other Skills (Not Required): Use of statistical analysis software (JMP, SAS), Strong familiarity with Airport operations, Familiarity with UAS operations, understanding of airport operations.
