  Job Summary

  Location: Pittsburgh, PAThis position is responsible for operating, monitoring, and performing routine maintenance, in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, on all equipment located within a powerhouse facility. Work is performed under direct supervision with results reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to policies and procedures.

  Key Accountabilities

  Records and analyzes plant operational data and operation of facility systems to maximize equipment efficiency and reliabilityRecords and evaluates status of various operating plant equipmentResponds to abnormal and emergency operating situations in a safe and reasonable mannerInvestigates and corrects equipment problems if possible; inspects and performs routine, planned, corrective and emergency maintenance on all plant equipment.Performs routine housekeeping duties and general cleanup of the facility and immediate surrounding areaMeasures and records the daily use of fuelPerforms routine, planned, and emergency maintenance actions on all facility equipment; routine maintenance may include lubrication, oil and filter changes, equipment cleaning and painting, equipment tear down, inspection and rebuild, etc.Interfaces with the client by responding to and resolving routine service requests and emergency trouble calls and has a basic understanding of the client's needsUtilizes the computer-based maintenance management program (CMMS) to initiate work orders, record maintenance actions, order spare parts, track inventory, close-out work orders and enter maintenance information into the CMMSRecommends maintenance and operating improvements to enhance customer service, improve efficiency, and increase equipment reliabilityProvides on-call support for emergency and contingency situationsPerforms all other related duties as assigned

  Qualifications

  Minimum Education & Experience RequirementsA high school diploma or GED and a First-Class Refrigeration License are required (based on Jurisdiction requirements) and at least five (5) years' experience in utility complex operations.Experience operating and maintaining boilers and chillers. Hot water boiler familiarity is desirableExperience operating and maintaining plant electrical and control systems, including programmable controllers (PLC) is desirableBasic water chemistry or WWTP experience desiredAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, coworkers, management, and the general public

  While performing the duties of this job, the employee works both in a business office setting and out in the plant. While working at the plant site, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat, and may work near moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in the office but may become loud out in the plant.
