Under the direction of the Supervisor of Oncology Informatics, the Oncology Informatics Pharmacist assists the Cancer Clinical Trials Office staff (Principal Investigators, Research Nurses, Research Assistants, etc.) with aspects pertaining to successful investigational medication management and study conduct, and is responsible for managing the adult chemotherapy order sets in the Oncology Management System (OMS). The pharmacist works closely with the Disease Program Leaders (DPLs) in Hematology/Oncology to ensure that order sets are reviewed and approved on a regular basis.
Currently BILH is embarking on the transition to Epic and the pharmacists responsibilities will move from OMS into Epic at BIDMC. The candidate for this position is required to have Epic Experience.

Primary Responsibilities:
Practices following the laws, rules, and regulations of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy, Department of Public Health, the Food and Drug Administration, Drug Enforcement Administration, BIDMC Committee on Clinical Investigations (CCI) and all Dana Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC) policies and procedures. Maintains certification and credentials per the Board of Registration and ensures the protection of rights and welfare of human subjects participating in clinical research conducted at BIDMC. (essential)
Partners with DPLs to initiate, review, approve and educate staff regarding all new Standard of Care OMS order sets. Creates, enters, edits, and maintains chemotherapy order sets in OMS. Provides real-time decision support and resource for chemotherapy calculations. Performs literature search to support OMS set development. (essential)
Coordinates all activities related to the development, maintenance and support of chemotherapy order sets in OMS. Performs quality assurance and data analysis as it relates to the use of the order set. Maintains complete documentation of all entries and edits to order sets from initiation and through the entire life cycle of the order set. (essential)
Operates within the Cancer Clinical Trials Office (CCTO) to facilitate communication and troubleshoot issues between study teams, sponsors, research pharmacists, and other DF/HCC institutions to ensure appropriate management of investigational agents. (essential)
Thoroughly reviews protocols and related documents to ensure appropriate study conduct. Reviews incoming protocols to identify potential issues before consideration by the Scientific Review Committee (SRC) and Institutional Review Board (IRB). (essential)
Extracts pertinent information from protocols to create templates used for drug ordering and dispensing. Reviews amendments and coordinates medication-related changes as necessary. Provides input for violations that involve pharmacy. (essential)
Collaborates with multidisciplinary groups to design and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance investigational study conduct throughout the office and institution. Participates in multidisciplinary meetings and committees (may include, but is not limited to: the DF/HCC IRB, CCTO Investigator Oversight Committee, OMS Workgroup, etc.). (essential)
Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of BIDMC Research Pharmacy operating procedures, policies, and practices. Including medication software for inventory control, dispensing guideline creation and maintenance, and research medication processing and labeling. Will maintain knowledge of organizational and department policies and procedures related to chemo and non-chemo administration. (essential)
Participates in development, testing, training, implementation and live support of the OMS application. (essential)
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required. Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred.
Licensed Registered Pharmacist in Massachusetts required.
3-5 years related work experience required.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple, competing demands.
This position requires carrying a pager/beeper during hours of operation and requires the periodic after-hours phone calls.
Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications (Jira and Confluence). May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.
Preferred Qualifications:
Direct patient care experience in a hospital pharmacy, preferably in an academic medical center setting.
Oncology experience with BCOP certification or ASHP accredited residency is a plus.
Previous research experience.

Work requires periods of close attention to work without interruption. Concentrated effort of up to 4 hours without break may be required.
