Under the leadership of Council Member Latisha Johnson and immediate supervision of the Chief of Staff, the Office Manager will work to ensure that the office is operating effectively and efficiently.

Below are the detailed requirements for the position:
Answer the main office phone line and direct the calls to the appropriate teammate, council office, or department. · Review Council Member Johnson’s public email account and direct any concerns to the appropriate teammate, council office, or department. · Preparing various awards for constituents (Testimonials, Spirit of Detroit, etc.) · Maintain Customer Relations Management (CRM) database
Assist in the purchase of office supplies
Liaison with the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT)
Liaison with the Detroit Wayne County Building Authority
Maintain Physical Plant
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Experience: At least two years of experience as an Office Manager or an Executive Assistant
Education: Essential – Associate Degree
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration
Transportation: Reliable transportation
PREFERRED SKILLS
The ideal candidate has:
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration or related field
At least 2 years of relevant experience
Excellent critical thinking, interpersonal, communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills
Well organized and able to handle multiple tasks at one time
Good written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in the use of personal computers and Microsoft productivity tools
Fundamental understanding of database or contact management systems
The ability to work cooperatively and effectively with team members and all stakeholders

City Employees Retirement System
As a regular City employee you automatically become a member of the General Retirement System. This entitles you to a retirement allowance after:
• Completion of thirty (30) years of service;
At age sixty (60) if you have at least ten (10) years of service, or
At age sixty-five (65) with eight (8) years of service.
