  Job Summary:

  Pratt & Whitney, a recognized leading producer of the world's most advanced jet engines is looking for a dedicated, highly motivated and experienced individual for the Hot Section Engineering Module Center team. We have a rare opportunity for a talented Associate Director, Hot Section Engineering Design – in our East Hartford, CT location. The Associate Director, Design Engineering is responsible for developing and sustaining hardware to meet or exceed module and system requirements and will work collaboratively to solve problems with IPT, CIPT and SIPT teams. The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the tasks and ensuring the successful execution of Engineering Standard Work and Product Reviews. The individual must have demonstrated technical leadership and excellent communication skills in leading large teams in Engineering. This position requires a strong technical background in mechanical design, development, production and field support of combustor, turbine and military exhaust modules. The specific role will lead and supervise a team of mechanical design engineers in support of the Operational Commercial and Military Engine (OCE and OME) CIPT’s within Hot Section Engineering. This is a second level supervisory role that is responsible for strategic planning, oversight and management of technical program tasks and milestones, manpower planning, employee development and performance assessments. This role is a key player within the CIPT leadership team who is responsible for all phases of the product life cycle for these hot section modules.

  Key Responsibilities:

  Manage & supervise a team of mechanical design engineers to deliver component improvement plans, production support, field limits and repairs for all hot section modules within OCE and OME programs.

  Ensure successful execution of Engineering Standard Work and is a member and/or chair of reviewer quorum for product/ design reviews.

  Act as the principal investigator for Design Engineering in matters related to customer escapes and field issues, drive issue resolution and implement mistake proofing.

  Provide the highest level of technical sufficiency within the Design Engineering Discipline, including the identification and promotion of innovative and practical design solutions to CIPT, SIPT and Program Management Office (PMO).

  Review and update technical standards, procedures, techniques, etc. to ensure that approach and methods proposed by the IPT/CIPT teams reflects best practices.

  Active participate in planning new proposals and CIPT tasks, including review and negotiation of requirements prior manpower planning.

  Responsible for strategic management of Design Discipline Health to ready the next generation workforce including coaching, mentor and talent development with their team.

  Drive a culture of mutual respect, trust and empowerment in the organization.

  Promote and drive bureaucracy reduction in all activities.

  Basic Qualifications:

  BS Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

  12+ years engineering experience or 10+ years with an advance degree.

  Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.

  The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  What is my role type?

  Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. This means that responsibilities of the job need to be performed onsite on a regular basis.

  Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

  The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

  Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

  Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

  This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
