The Research Assistant will assist the Program Director in supporting research conducted as part of Precision Nutrition.
Who We Are The Texas A&M AgriLife Institute for Advancing Health Through Agriculture, IHA, is the world’s first academic institute to bring together precision nutrition, responsive agriculture, and social and behavioral research to reduce diet-related chronic disease and lower health care costs in a way that supports producers and the environment. Precision Nutrition, led by IHA Assistant Director Dr. Regan Bailey, is a comprehensive and dynamic approach to understanding nutrition based on individual differences in responding to diets and their impact on health due to genetics, epigenetics, age, sex, disease status, sleep patterns, and other factors.
Part of Precision Nutrition is the development of an Individualized Dietary Exposure Assessment Center (IDEA) that will include dietary data collection and analysis which is under the direction of Diane Mitchell, M.S., R.D., IDEA Center Program Director.
What We Want
The Texas A&M AgriLife Institute for Advancing Health Through Agriculture seeks a Research Assistant to assist the Program Director in supporting Dr. Regan Bailey and the research conducted as part of Precision Nutrition. The Research Assistant will perform independent research activities requiring an advanced level of knowledge in Nutrition, are predominantly intellectual and varied in character, and require consistent use of discretion and judgment.
Responsibilities
Conduct dietary and related research data collection. Data collection could involve web-based, PC/computer, or mobile device applications, telephone interviewing and other types of communication to research participants. Attend trainings. Assist with training development. Maintains data management quality control procedures. Participates in other research related tasks. Other duties as required.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Nutrition
Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian eligible
Some research experience in nutrition or related field
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong professional communication skills across multiple platforms (telephone, email, text, chat).
Good understanding of research protocol.
Good working knowledge of Office 365 applications or similar software applications.
Experience with nutrition/food analysis applications.
Ability to work in flexible research environment with flexible hours and schedule; some evening and weekend hours may be required.
Ability to work well independently.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bilingual (English and Spanish)
