  ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders & Severe Malnutrition (3M) is theworld's only Center of Excellence for the treatment of patients with extrememedical complications resulting from eating disorders and severe malnutrition.Nurses in the ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders play a vital role on themultidisciplinary team providing comprehensive and collaborative care to thispatient population.

  The ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders is a 30-bed unit with a nurse-to-patientratio of 1:5. CNAs and behavioral healthcare techs provide 1:1 care andsupervision for every patient. This unique population requires both medicaland behavioral interventions.

  Job Summary

  The Nursing Apprentice, under the direct supervision of an RN, performsbasic patient care activities. The Nursing Apprentice role allows nursingstudents an opportunity to enhance clinical skills in a hospital environmentwhile still enrolled in an ADN or BSN program. The Nursing Apprentice Iadheres to the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of professionalnursing and performance, and the ANA Code of Ethics (2015) to providecare to all patients. Utilizes the Theory of Human Caring and Caritas in dailypractice. "Jean Watson, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN, Founder /Director, Watson Caring Science Institute".

  Essential Functions:

  Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN,including but not limited to, monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucosemeasurements, and recording intake and output. (30%)Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of dailyliving, including but not limited to, bathing, grooming and eating. (10%)Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotionalconditions to nursing staff. (10%)Assists with keeping unit(s) and patient rooms stocked, clean, andorderly. (10%)Develop specific clinical nurse skills through observation of experts andsupervised, hands-on experience. (10%)Documentation that complies with clinical guidelines. (10%)Partners with interprofessional team on healthcare consumer throughput byproactively solving problems related to capacity and healthcare consumer flow.(10%)Collaborates with interprofessional teams to incorporate Lean principles forquality improvement initiatives. (10%)Education:

  Post High School Diploma or Certificate Program RequiredWork Experience:

  less than 1 year Must have successfully completed Med/Surg 1 at time ofapplication with the ability to provide transcript with grade.RequiredLicenses:

  BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association RequiredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgmentand the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in afast-paced environment and take appropriate action.Ability to ensure confidentiality of patient information by creating andmaintaining a secure and trusting environment by not sharing informationlearned on the job, except when necessary in the performance of the jobresponsibilities or to improve a patient's care.Ability to ensure all duties, responsibilities and competencies areconducted in a manner that is effective and appropriate to patients/clientsto who care/service is being provided.Demonstrates knowledge and applicability of the principles of growth anddevelopment over the life span, as well as demonstrating the ability toassess data reflecting the patient's status and interpreting appr priatecultural information of the patient(s) to whom care/ services is beingdelivered/provided.Ability to complete and maintain clinical competency standards.Familiarity with EHR Documentation
