About Nuclear Reactor Development Director

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Nuclear Reactor Development Director to work in our Nuclear Science Technology Directorate. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off. Remote or Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position.

The NST Directorate is looking for a senior leader to provide strategic direction for INL’s nuclear reactor development efforts and engage with external stakeholders to meet their research, development, demonstration, and deployment needs. Responsibilities for this role include providing inspirational leadership to a multidisciplinary team, coordinating across the NST Division and other INL organizations to successfully establish and execute nuclear reactor development projects. The director will build relationships with external stakeholders in both government and the private sector, leveraging INL’s unique capabilities and experience to accelerate nuclear energy development and deployment. They will lead bold new nuclear reactor development projects from inception through to deployment, which involves team building, program management, and stakeholder engagement. Strengthening partnerships with government entities, industry, national laboratories, technology end users, and universities is also a key aspect of the role. Furthermore, the director will provide visible community and regional leadership, maintaining strong local, state, and regional relationships and communications. You will report to the Nuclear Science Technology Associate Laboratory Director.

Responsibilities Include:

Provide inspiration leadership to a multidisciplinary team focused on nuclear reactor development coordinating across the NST Division and working with other INL organizations to successful establish and execute nuclear reactor development projects.

Build relationships with external stakeholders in government and private sector on how INL’s unique capabilities and experience can be applied to accelerate nuclear energy development and deployment.

Lead new, bold nuclear reactor development projects from inception, to execution to deployment. This includes building and organizing teams, program management, and stakeholder engagement.

Build and strengthen partnerships and connections with government entities, industry, national laboratories, technology end-users, and universities.

Provide visible community and regional leadership, paying careful attention to local, state, and regional relationships and communications.

*Minimum Requirements: * * MS and 12 years of experience in executive leadership roles within the U.S. government and industry with more than 10 years of experience * Established relationships across government agencies and the private sector nuclear energy development, specifically including the Department of Defense. * This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

The pay range for this position is $175,008.00 min - $385,008.00 max.
