  DESCRIPTION OF WORK

  As a Safety Intern, you will work with District Safety Specialists both in the field and in the office. Duties will include aiding in interpreting a variety of statewide department policies and procedures,  assisting with the development of various safety trainings, and contributing to the development of ideas for corrective actions to address accidents and injuries.

  Internship opportunities associated with this posting will be for Engineering District 11 which consists of Allegheny, Beaver, and Lawrence Counties.

  Work Schedule and Additional Information:Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.Some positions may require travelYou will receive further communication regarding this position via email.   QUALIFICATIONSStudents who are interested in a PennDOT internship must meet all of the following requirements:Must be a high school graduate or college student enrolled (or intending to enroll) on a full-time or part-time basis in a 2- or 4- year post-secondary education program for the fall semester.Acceptable Majors:Safety ScienceOccupational Safety and Environmental HealthSafety ManagementMust be in good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher)Must be at least 18 years of age.

  Condition of Employment:Upon verification of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License without incident, some positions may be authorized to operate Department vehicles as part of this job.

  Additional Requirements:You must be able to perform essential job functions.
