Hackensack Meridian Health Medical Group-Specialty Care, P.C. seeks a Neurocritical Care and Emergency Medicine Provider (Hackensack, NJ).Duties: Provide emergency care for patients presenting to the emergency department. Examine, diagnose, and select methods of treatment and therapy for patients with emergent medical and traumatic conditions. Provide supervision of and assistance to house staff in areas of clinical decision making. Provide critical care for patients in the neurocritical care unit. Perform intensive care management of patients with life-threatening and critical neurological and neurosurgical illnesses as well as post-neurological surgical patients. Examine, diagnose, and select methods of treatment and therapy for patients with disorders and diseases involving the nervous system, brain stem, or brain. Treat secondary brain injuries, such as those brought on by chronic illnesses. Provide patients with basic life support, monitoring patients in cases of stroke, and helping to prevent secondary brain injuries. Recommend and order tests to determine the extent of illness and diagnose condition. Provide consultations in response to physicians’ clinical questions and consult with patients to determine the appropriate course of treatment. Participate in 24-hour on-call coverage for the neurocritical care unit. Work with the Department Director to develop a curriculum for students, residents, and fellows as relevant to the current and future state of the neuroscience center. Serve as an educational resource to residents, students and nurses in the field of neurocritical care. Engage in the department’s research activities and efforts, as well as participate with Department Chairs and Site Stroke Director on maintaining Joint Commission comprehensive stroke center certification. Meet with the Chairs on a scheduled and as needed basis and work with other divisions/division directors, chairs of various Medical Center and School of Medicine departments, nursing and rehab leadership, and administration.Requirements: Must possess a Medical Doctor degree or a Doctor of Osteopathy degree, or foreign equivalent. Must hold a valid Medical License in the State of New Jersey. Must hold valid Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration. Must be Board certified/eligible in emergency medicine through ABEM; Board certified/eligible in neurocritical care through UCNS or ABPN; and Fellowship trained in neurocritical care.
