Job Description:The Network Engineer - Consultant supports the stableoperation of the in-house computer network (LAN/WAN). This includesplanning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, andoptimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links whileensuring network availability. Architects and implements highly available network core infrastructure.Supports andoptimizes network routing (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, OTV,ISIS, VRRP, ARP, ND, IPv4, IPv6, Multicast, and SpanningTree). Performs Tier 3 Network support for Wide Area Network, Perimeterand Data centers. Maintains Cisco ACI (Cisco Application CentricInfrastructurePlans, leads, monitors and controls medium to large projects,implementations and other scopes of work. Integrates, implements anddocuments new technologies while supporting and maintaining the existing coreinfrastructure.Provides the final tier of on-site support prior to consultation with externalresources. Serves as a resource to colleagues and mentors other staff toachieve higher skill levels.Insures network compliance with IT Security policies.Responds and communicates to customer requests within established standard,collaborates with other staff as necessary to ensure timely effectiveresolution.
Minimum QualificationsRequired:Associate's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or otherrelated field requiredCisco - CCNA Data Center and/or CCNA Routing and Switching requiredFive (5) years of industry experience in supporting enterprise sizenetwork infrastructure required Bachelor's Degree may substitute 2 years ofexperiencePreferred:Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science,or other related field preferredCisco - CCNP Data Center and/or CCNP Routing and Switching preferredFive (5) or more years of industry experience in supporting enterprisesize network infrastructure in a Health care environment preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Expert knowledge and experience with enterprise class LAN and WAN devices suchas firewalls, switches, and routers.Expert level knowledge of Cisco hardware installation, configuration andmaintenance.Expert level knowledge of layer 2 Ethernet switching, including VLANs,Spanning Tree, 801q Trunks, ARP, IGMP, LACP.Expert level knowledge of layer 3 IP Routing, including subnetting,OSPF, EIGRP, ISIS, BGP, VRRP.Expert level knowledge with essential network protocols, including DHCP,NTP, DNS; including the ability to explain their operation to technicalstaff in other groups.Expert level knowledge of security, including IDS/IPS, ACLs, LAN andWireless station security, 801x, and SSL.Strong knowledge in Software Defined Networking as well as VNF (VirtualNetwork Function).Strong knowledge in SD-WAN technologies and management.Expert level knowledge of Cisco ACI (Cisco Application CentricInfrastructure).Expert knowledge of WAN and LAN concepts, network security, networkoptimization, performance monitoring, system resiliency, server backupand recovery, workstation connectivity, and Internet connectivity.Expert level knowledge of packet capture analysis and tools. Strong writtenand verbal communication skills, able to explain network concepts to bothfellow technical staff in detail and to non-technical staff at an appropriatelevel.Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory.Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled businesshours or scheduled shifts is requiredAbility to work nights and/or weekends is required for identified positions
