KBR is actively seeking a Network Engineer to join our innovative team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the design, implementation, and optimization of our network architecture.
Description of Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in network switches, next-generation firewalls, VoIP Call Manager, virtual LANs, encryption devices, network drawing, scripting, and hands-on experience with hyperconverged infrastructures in accordance with industry best practices and DoD standards.
The scope of this position includes responsibility for analyzing, managing, or performing work necessary to plan, design, develop, acquire, document, test, implement, integrate, maintain, or modify systems for solving problems or accomplishing work processes by using information technology (IT) systems such as computers, servers, routers, etc.
Identifies and implements industry best practices, DoD standards and NIST security controls and compliance standards.
Monitors network performance, usage and security and optimizes LAN connectivity, ensuring all network components are secure and operational.
Consults with customers to refine functional requirements and translate functional requirements into design specifications.
Design, configure, and manage switches to optimize network performance.
Implement advanced switching features, VLANs, VIP, and Static Routes
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to network hardware and software
Deploy and manage next-generation firewalls for robust network security.
Monitor and enforce firewall policies, intrusion prevention, and secure shell (SSH) configurations.
Stay informed about emerging security threats to ensure the firewall infrastructure's resilience.
Implement, troubleshoot, and optimize VoIP configurations, ensuring high-quality voice communication.
Create detailed network diagrams to document and illustrate network topologies and maintain accurate and up-to-date visual representations of the network architecture.
Implement, manage, and optimize hyperconverged systems for maximum performance.
Optimize network performance, scalability, and reliability through proactive maintenance.
Collaborate with Security team to align network solutions with business objectives.
Maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures.
Generate regular reports on network performance, security, and utilization
Adheres to change management processes and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Job Qualifications:
Education:
The ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems or Computer Engineering or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
Experience:
Prefer at least 7 years of engineering experience designing, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a mission-critical WAN/LAN related work experience.
Additional Qualifications:
Candidate must hold an active Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance.
Must be able to obtain and maintain an IA professional certification and be compliant with DoDM 8140.01 with IAT level III.
Experience working with government, contractors, industry, and customers to provide network collaborative services.
Experienced in DoD network management, common network troubleshooting tools and techniques.
Experience applying network hardening techniques using current DISA STIGs
Must have Windows Server and Red Hat system administration experience in virtual environments
Must have knowledge of network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
Must possess administrative, organizational, and computer skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Outlook).
Requires the ability to work quickly and in a potentially high-stress environment.
Must have good oral and written communication skills
