  NDT Technician I is an entry level position. The purpose for an NDT Technician at this level is to gain a basic understanding of the NDT process. NDT Technicians are expected to have a basic level of ability in performing Non-Destructive Testing with immediate supervision by a certified NDT Technician (level II or above). The technician utilizes X-ray, liquid penetrants, magnetic particle, Eddy current and ultrasonic techniques as certified (FARS, RSM, SBs, Ads, etc.). Evaluates inspection data, interprets Inspection findings/results, and records inspection results on approved documents. The technician is expected to follow established standard work under immediate supervision in efforts to obtain certification(s) of level II in at least on discipline. The technician will refer problems or deviations to more experienced operators including Lead Technicians, supervisors or engineers.

  Primary Responsibilities:

  Learn how to perform NDT inspections, test & calibration

  Learn how to evaluate the results of all inspections performed using NDT processes to the level of certification held

  Learn how to maintain accurate records of inspection for all NDT processes

  Learn how to perform process checks/audits on all materials and equipment used in NDT

  Support and follow all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality, and CI functions as set by your leader and position

  Actively participate in the Continuous Improvement process as well as safety related activities

  Work extended shifts/overtime as required by the business

  Some Holiday hours may be required based on business need

  Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  HS Diploma. In the absence of a HS diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience is required.

  U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

  Ability to obtain internal Level II FPI and X-ray certification required. Training for Certification requires 1 year on 1st Shift.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Aerospace background

  Basic experience with braze and weld joints

  Basic understanding of detailed prints and specifications

  Basic understanding of non-destructive inspection techniques

  Basic knowledge of shop floor equipment (setup, cleaning, operation).

  Ability to learn how to operate a computer to access prints and/or specified work instructions, e-mail, print documents and access internet/intranet sites

  Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, decimals, fractions) including knowledge of or ability to learn Geometric Tolerances

  Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management.

  ASNT certification preferred – I moved this to the bottom because it is an entry level position and could detour candidates from applying
