Position Description
Serco is seeking a full-time Engineering Technician II to support the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVO) at John C. Stennis Space Center in South Mississippi by providing expertise in areas of modification, repair, testing, and trial support of oceanographic data collection assets.
This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain/maintain/transfer your Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship is required).

In this role, you will:
Provide on-going technical assistance and support to organizational programs and projects which may include hardware assembly, electrical integration, and testing of systems in land and marine based environments.
Provide support with setup and data collection of acoustic and magnetic arrays.
Provide support with programmable logic controls and motor controls.
Provide support troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems, electronic systems and variable frequency drive systems.
Conduct tests and assessments of new systems and repairs to ensure quality.
Assemble and install equipment or parts requiring wiring, soldering, or connecting.
Fabricate RF and EMI spec cables, low loss cables, power, and data cables.
Troubleshoot and repair equipment failures; order and replace parts as needed.
Read electrical schematics, repair, and populate prototype circuit boards including surface mount boards.
Comply with security procedures in the performance of duties.
Typically report to a manager or head of a unit/department.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by Serco Management and Govt. customers.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
High school diploma plus 2-4 years of directly related work experience.
Must be able to obtain / maintain an active SECRET level clearance. (U.S. Citizenship is required)
Knowledge of electrical/mechanical principles, methods, and techniques within a specific area of expertise.
Ability to travel for extended periods of time in austere environments to support operational needs CONUS and OCONUS for up to 10% of time annually.
Knowledge of relevant tools, equipment, hardware, and software.
Travel up to 10% may be required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Familiarity with Navy research and development concepts, practices, procedures, and testing.
Familiarity with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
