Responsibilities The Music Therapist facilitates programming that provides healing through music- based therapy techniques that emphasize clients to explore their feelings, improve their emotional wellbeing and problem-solving skills. Essential Duties: Collaborate with Clinical Director or designee to identify and incorporate music activities for clients. Interact with milieu and encourage participation in sessions. Facilitate individual and group sessions as assigned. Demonstrate practice and techniques and safely guide clients. Facilitate passive listening and participatory programs that include playing, singing, and creating music. Design musical interventions based on therapeutic goals to improve psychological, physical and social health. Visually assess clients during musical interventions and measure effectiveness of sessions. Communicate with clinicians and direct care staff as needed. Provide weekly progress updates to treatment team as needed. Complete documentation timely and according to established standards. Provide residential milieu support for clients in Perform other duties as Qualifications Bachelor's degree in music therapy required. Master's degree in clinical, expressive arts, music therapy or related field Board registered (APC, LAPC, ASW, AMFT) or licensed in the state in which services are provided preferred. CBMT credentialed as Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) preferred, pursuing credential required.
