The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

  Position Summary

  Under the direction of the MRI Manager performs all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation and archiving MRI images; responsible for the care of the patient while in the MRI area. Responsible administratively to the MRI Manager.

  Responsibilities

  Review staffing levels and assigns personnel to ensure adequate coverage to meet needs of schedule.In collaboration with Medical Physics, responsible for timely ACR accreditation of the facility, including identification of appropriate cases for radiologist approval and submission of application materials including images to the ACR.Participates in on-boarding new technologists to educate them about standard operating procedure and standard scanning parameters.Train new MRI technologists on standardized imaging protocols.Reviews imaging requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided. All questionable orders are communicated to the radiologist for final approval.Acts as a point of contact and resource for staff, physicians, patients and their families.Serves as a resource for the Imaging Technologists regarding topics related to their daily responsibilities, including adherence to facility Policies and Procedures relevant to their role.Works collaboratively with staff to prioritize and organize schedules and to triage routine and emergent procedures.Updates imaging protocols at the scanners to ensure uniformity with Department standardized protocols; and disseminates protocol changes to staff.Monitors equipment and coordinates repairs.Contributes to decision making for hiring new technologistsTrains staff members on new equipment and exams.Positions patient and selects appropriate options to demonstrate cross-sectional anatomy of interest based on accepted MRI principles and the referring physician's request.Judges diagnostic quality of finished medical images prior to submission to radiologist for interpretation.Performs clerical responsibilities associated with acquisition, processing and archiving of patient records.Offers detailed explanation of diagnostic procedures to patients and answers questions as appropriate.Observes patient while in the MRI area for change in status and makes appropriate intervention or contacts primary care givers for instruction.Competent to administer Contrast Media via appropriate peripheral IV access as ordered and directed by staff while abiding by NY state guidelines if certified.Directs other non-technical personnel that may be assigned to the area for which they are responsible.Identifies and corrects problems as appropriate with all critical occurrences reported to the next level of authority.Operates and maintains equipment on a daily basis maintaining logbooks with equipment performance data: schedules PM, performs QA, maintains records required for and participates in inspections.Conforms to all HIPAA, OSHA, Infection and safety guidelines.MRI must be able to use a wide variety of imaging equipment and computers.Minimum Qualifications

  Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology; NYS License, ARRT; MRI Registry eligible7 year's prior experienceNew York BCLS certifiedPreferred Qualifications

  State license to inject contrast preferredOther Requirements

  Must be able to remain calm in stressful situations.Must display courtesy and empathy toward patients, co-workers and physicians.Must be able to make sound judgments and execute the appropriate actions based on the needs of patients and knowledge of facility policies and procedures.Must have excellent communications skills and maintain confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.Physical Demands

  Must be able to move around freely.Must be able to assist in the lifting of physically compromised patients.Must possess sufficient visual and auditory acuity to perform task related to the patient; sits, stands, bends and walks intermittently throughout the day; must lift patients and supplies.
