The Motor Vehicle District Office Supervisor will supervise and beresponsible for all daily activities and operations of the BenningtonDMV. Duties involve the issuance of registrations, handicap placards,issuance of licenses, examination of applications through use of variouswritten, visual and road tests. Additionally, the position will beresponsible for cash handling and accountability of all funds within theoffice.
The District Office Supervisor will:
Prioritize office activities to meet operating requirements
Analyze workflow issues and implement workable solutions
Develop effective working relationships with staff and customers
Provide necessary training, guidance and motivation to staff
Supervise the efficient use of office supplies and maintenance of officeequipment
Maintain a pleasant and secure working environment
Act as liaison with other departments and divisions
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and working experience ofsupervisory principles and practices, proficient computer skills, andstrong written and verbal communication abilities.
Environmental Factors
Duties are performed in the office and the field. Incumbents must beable to work quickly and accurately under pressure before the public eyeand from telephone inquiries. Due to significant public contact exposureto contagious illnesses is a daily risk. Incumbents must be able tomulti-task and prioritize unpredictable workloads. Employees must beable to deal with confused, frustrated, and highly upset customers andhandle large sums of money. Within the office setting, normal workplaceconditions prevail. Riding in various vehicles in which the incumbenthas little control of the operator of the vehicle and/or environmentalconditions of the vehicle or roadway. Incumbents must be able to takeover operation of a motor vehicle in emergency situations. Occasionaltrips outdoors when administering road exams and verifying vehicleidentification numbers. Incumbents must be able to perform several jobduties within several different units possibly in the same day. Theincumbent must be able to travel to other offices with minimal notice toassist when staffing shortages occur and various scheduled hours.Private means of transportation may be required. Some overtime work maybe required.
