We are currently seeking a Civil Engineer to join the successful team in ourLakewood, CO office. The engineer will work closely with team colleaguesengineers, scientists, architects, planners and owners on projectplanning, design and construction. Key requirements of the position includea core understanding of geotechnical engineering, and an understanding ofcivil engineering, project management, and field work coordination andexecution for a variety of types of projects.
Your Role:Plan, conduct and supervise geotechnical engineering design and analysisrelated to civil engineering projects for water supply, dams, andreservoir projects. Responsibilities may include managing and preparinggeotechnical and geologic field investigations, reviewing fieldinvestigation boring logs and data and assigning project specific laboratorytesting, conducting engineering analyses and design, foundation design,fill placement/ground modification design, seepage evaluation, slopestability and seismic analyses, and preparing, editing, and reviewinggeotechnical engineering reports and documents for a variety of applications.Participate in dam safety investigations; facilitate and/or participate inFERC Part 12, PFMA, dam risk analysis, assessment and management activities.Provide geotechnical solutions for dams, foundations, heavy civilconstruction, and earth structures.Develop and/or review quality control/assurance specifications anddocumentation during engineering design projects and during field constructionactivities.Conduct field observations, site visits, and exploration programs. Verifythat work performed complies with contract requirements.Analysis and design of corrective measures for major geotechnical problemssuch as landslides, seepage, foundations, canal failures or land subsidence.Provides cost-effective, functional, and technically accurate designs thatmeet dam safety requirements and that ensure public safety.Prepare preliminary and detailed design drawings and specifications forengineering projects.Participate in marketing and business development efforts, personallycontributing to developing new projects and clients. Provide pursuit planningand proposal preparation.Participate in the development of a growth strategy for expanding dam andgeotechnical services.
Qualifications:Bachelor's in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical/Materials emphasis, orrelated Geological Engineering degree.P. E. in Colorado preferrable or able to get P.E. in 6 months.5 to 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering.Proficient in MS Word, Excel and other Microsoft software.Proficient with current geotechnical design software.Familiarity with geotechnical investigation development and execution forfoundation design.Experience with expansive oils and foundation design a plus.Excellent writing and speaking skills, comfortable with client communications.HAZWOPER and MSHA certification preferred.A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations isrequired.Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record withoutrestrictions.
Target salary range: $75,000 to $100,000. The estimate displayedrepresents the typical salary range for this position based on experience andother factors.
