Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Environmental Planner with experience in environmental (CEQA/NEPA) assessment and permitting of renewable energy, electric transmission, and other energy generation facilities. This role will be responsible for conducting and overseeing research, field work, impact analysis, report preparation, and business development related to CEQA/NEPA and related technical studies. We have an opening and excellent professional growth opportunity for a Mid-Level Energy Sector Environmental Planner/Scientist to join our team to work with industry-leading clients on cutting edge projects in California. This position allows you to work from any of our 13 office locations, and also provides the potential for a hybrid/remote work arrangement within California.
Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Write and manage the preparation of CEQA/NEPA documents for renewable energy, electric transmission, and other energy generation facilities
Write and manage constraints and feasibility studies
Perform and manage current planning duties through the entitlement and permitting stage
Interface with clients and make public presentations to agency decision-making bodies
Perform agency consultation and ensure environmental regulatory compliance
Demonstrate confidence in decision-making and be recognized by clients and peers as having expertise in CEQA/NEPA and related technical areas
Understand the entire environmental scope of the projects and their impacts on the various groups & agencies involved
Contribute to the clean energy future of California
This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following:
Minimum B.S. in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or related degree
Minimum of 3 years of experience
Must have knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of environmental planning; federal, state, and local laws and regulations relating to planning and environmental resources
A practical understanding of CEQA and/or NEPA, as well as knowledge of other federal, state, and local environmental statutes and regulations
Highly motivated with excellent technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Detail-oriented, resourceful, strong time management skills, and innovative
Self-starter willing to tackle a variety of tasks simultaneously
Excellent verbal and written skills
Strong research and analytical skills
Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

The base salary range for this full-time position is $74,000-$105,000, plus benefits and bonus. At Rincon, our salary ranges are based on market median of similar jobs, according to third party salary benchmark surveys. The base pay that is actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
