The Role
The E25 Radio/IC/Weapons MGR Test Engineering 2 is a demanding position that requires in depth knowledge and experience in the management of the Radio/IC/Weapons test program. The candidate will need to be able to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers including waterfront construction management, design engineering, test engineering, SUPSHIP, NAVSEA, SPAWAR, NAVAIR and Ship’s Force. The Radio/IC/Weapons MGR Test Engineering 2 will verify contract compliance and track Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) completion to ensure contractual obligation are met. The Radio/IC/Weapons MGR Test Engineering 2 will be responsible for the managing and executing of their part of the test index and schedule; manage the ITPAM execution; manage all external customers and interfaces and report overall status. The Radio/IC/Weapons MGR Test Engineering 2 will be a significant member of the Electronics Test Task Group responsible for Radio/IC/Weapons updates in the Electronic Test Task Group meeting and agenda issuance/status, Test Plan of the Day updates, systems status and turnover and identifying and recommending the resolution of major system and programmatic issues as well as overall E25 contract performance with the Radio/IC/Weapons systems.
Other responsibilities include:
Design, develop, and implement testing methods and equipment
Plan and arrange the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices
Provide test area with parameters for sample testing and specifies tests to be performed
Compile data and defines changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements
Responsible for testing all customer samples and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area
Must Have
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or the required certification and 6 years of relevant professional/exempt experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program. The required certifications must be Lead Test Engineer (LTE), Shift Test Engineer (STE), Ship Safety Officer (SSO). Inactivation Test Engineer (ITE) certification, or Shift Refueling Engineer (SRE).
Nice to Have
Knowledge of safety requirements and coordinate with functional supervisors, waterfront construction and Ship’s Force to ensure that test program is conducted safely
Experience with Ship Yard and NAVSEA approved requirements and procedures
CVN 78 or CVN 68 Lead Test Qualified
